For Marco Friedl and Milos Veljkovic, Saturday afternoon’s Bundesliga clash with SC Freiburg was one from which neither emerged unscathed, with both picking up minor injuries. Though Marco Friedl was able to finish the match at the wohninvest WESERSTADION despite a twisted ankle, Milos Veljkovic’s afternoon came to an early end as he was taken off at half time due a calf problem.

An MRI scan performed by team doctor Dr. Daniel Hellermann revealed a minor ligament and capsule injury in Friedl’s ankle. However, Werder ae optimistic that the Austrian will recover over the course of the week and rejoin team training with a view to featuring on Sunday against TSG Hoffenheim.

No structural injuries were detected in Milos Veljkovic’s calf and so the plan is for him to be reintroduced to training over the course of the week. He should be available for Sunday’s game in Baden-Württemberg.
